Dark eyes scanned the desolate houses around him, noticing that all of the buildings were beginning to wear down and fall apart. None of them seemed suitable for permanent places to live in, but he hoped to find one that he could at least use as shelter for a while. For tonight at least, possibly a little while longer. Cold rain which fell from the sky had not ceased even for a moment since mid day, leaving the black and tan shepherd absolutely soaked with it. Ordinarily he did not mind being wet, but he could only take so much rain. With all of the walking he'd been doing, he was also growing tired. Now he wanted nothing more than a dry place to sleep for a while.
When he spotted what appeared to be an apartment complex looming ahead of him, he knew that the multi-story building was bound to have a warm, safe room somewhere that he could choose for the night. On the downside, there might have also been others who had chosen already to shelter there from this rain, but there would be plenty of space. Artyom was sure that he would not be any problems.
Making his way down the street, he still approached the buildings with care. Some cars still sat out in front of them, waiting for humans who would never return. He could not see, hear, or scent any other canines, although it was likely this rain was masking scents. Either way he progressed, heading toward the rotting buildings, his eagerness to be out of the rain overriding caution for the moment. From the way this place looked, it must've been a higher end place of living at one time, as far as apartments went anyway. But now it was falling apart just like everything else. Keen eyes spotted the door to an apartment which had been left open, and he entered the shadowy space eagerly, glad for shelter now.
The living space and kitchen area were ahead of him and to his right, with bedroom and the other areas to his left. It looked as if most of the furnishings were gone, but he was fine with that. Even the old, musty carpeted floor was more comfortable than some of his previous sleeping areas. Even though this place was smaller, Artyom began to look through the rooms quietly. He needed to make sure he had not intruded on anyone else who might have decided to shelter here.
